March 31, 2009

Dear Parents,

School is up and running after that long Spring Break. Home all of you had a restful and relaxing time. The snow, rain and ice didn't help much did it?

Now for some relatively good news. Registration is now open for present students attending Cre-Act. If the number of students entering the 6th grade is the same number that are in 5th now and the same number of 4th graders will go into 5th then we are positive there will be a 6th grade here next year. Registration will be held for the general public the 2nd and 3rd week of April. This will also include in-coming 6th graders.

Present students at Cre-Act will be given the chance for the slots so we are asking that you return your registration blanks no later than Monday, April 6th. After this time the slots will be open to new students.

The Pre-School is filling up fast so any new registrations need to be in.

The Chair-ity Auction netted a few dollars over $14,000. Great job done by all.

COMING EVENTS:

·         April 7th – Parent meeting at 6:30p.m. Need it at this time because of other commitments of faculty and myself.

·         Week of April 13th- I.R.I.'s and beginning of I.S.A.T. Testing.

·         Time off to celebrate the Easter Season- April 9, 10 and 13.

·         April 14, 15, 16th Sister Janice will be in Boise to give presentations to the Serve Idaho State Commission and State Department of Education Title I Conference.

·         April 17 to 24th, Sister Janice will be in Connecticut for meetings.

PLAY:

We need all to sign somewhere on the list on the bulletin board in school for the different jobs. The play will be discussed at length at the Parent Meeting and the days your child will perform will be announced.

Sincerely,

Sister Janice Otis, F.S.E.

Principal

March 11, 2009

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for a wonderful, successful Chair-ity Auction. The final amount is not in yet from D.L. Evans Bank but the estimate is close to $13,000. This is more than last year. Good Job by All.

Remember:

No school tomorrow the 12th or Friday the 13th. Sign up for Parent Teacher's Conferences. School resumes on the 16th.

Spring Play:

We will be sending home the assistance jobs for the play next week. Please be aware that we need help in stage management, building sets, costumes, make-up, public relations, ticket sales etc… Look over the jobs- sign up for what you want and return to the office.

Also, it has come to my attention that plastic, forks, spoons, knives and napkins are being provided for the children at lunch from the faculty and staff's materials. Your children need to bring their own utensils and napkins. The tuition payments barely cover teacher's salaries- there isn't any operating budget for the lunch time.

I will see most of you, if not all, at Parent Teacher's Conferences.

Your Grateful Principal,

Sister Janice Otis, F.S.E.

February 20, 2009

Dear Parents,

Things are quieting down a little after a very successful Speech Festival. Thank you to all who helped make this event special.

Just a few announcements:

·         November 10th is the final deadline for us to submit the numbers and kinds of wreaths to be ordered. PLEASE HELP- the school needs this fund raiser. The wreaths and other decorations are beautiful and will last a long time. The principal's salary and building rent have not been paid the past 4 months.

·         Today the St. Jude's Hospital Mathathon Math books were given to the children. The children can get pledges for each problem that they do. The school will donate 5 cents for every problem each child does. There is a flyer with a booklet that contains possible prizes for the money they receive from the sponsors. This is one project where our children contribute for other children who are suffering from severe and sometimes debilitating illnesses.

·         Tuition is due by the 10th of the month. Tuition bills were given out the first part of the week.

·         Parent Teachers' Conferences are scheduled next Thursday and Friday, November 13th and 14th. There will be NO SCHOOL or After School Program these days. Appointments need to be made for parents to see your child's teacher(s) and myself. Times are Thursday from 1:00pm on and Friday beginning at 9:00am.

·         IRI Tests will be given next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Please try to have your children here. If they are ill they will have to take their test when they return.

·         REMINDER: It's getting cold outside these days. Have your child wear warm jackets, hats and gloves/mittens.

·         Milk bills will be processed now also. There are still outstanding milk bills from September. Please make sure you have paid your.

This is a very busy time. I truly appreciate all the help that spouses, parents, grandparents and others are giving us. Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Sister Janice Otis, F.S.E.

Dear Parents,

Just a few announcements for you this week.

·         Our auditor will not be coming until later so you will receive hand written invoices for the new school year 2008-09 listing September tuition payments.

·         For those on a payment plan you will notice that the monthly charge will be for $350 for one child or $525 for two or more children.
You just still pay the arranged payment, as you will continue to pay through June, July and August.
The credit amount will be listed for those on tuition assistance.

·         September Book Fees and Tuition payments are now past due for those who haven't paid.

·         Please pray for Sister Mona Brunner, who is the founder of the

Franciscan Family Life Center and the Director of the Franciscan Counseling Center.
She is very ill with cancer and has only a short time to live. Sister is the one who,
in the end, gave the okay for the Franciscan Cre-Act School to be started by Mother Dorothy in Pocatello.
The school owes a lot to her for her support and dedication.

·         Mother Dorothy, the founder of Cre-Act, will be arriving in Pocatello the beginning of next week.
After getting settled she will spend some time here at Cre-Act as she has an office upstairs. Cre-Act welcomes her home.

·         Please save box tops and hand them in at the office. The school also collects Yoplait lids for breast cancer research.

    Your Principal,

    Sister Janice Otis, F.S.E.
